Mat

Mat Pilates is based Joseph Pilates original series which he called Contrology. It is a series of exercises taught using a specific order in the Classical Method. This method was strongly influenced by yoga, ballet, and calisthenics focusing on developing a strong core and a flexible spine. As a contemporary instructor I use the classical exercises in a modern way while staying true to Joe’s principles.

  1. Breathing

  2. Concentration

  3. Control

  4. Centering

  5. Precision

  6. Balanced muscle development

  7. Flow

  8. Whole body movement

  9. Relaxation

Reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates uses a specially designed piece of equipment called a Reformer. The reformer is a piece of equipment with a sliding carriage, springs, pulleys, ropes, and foot bar. The springs provide resistance that can be adjusted to your fitness level.

Exercises are performed while lying, sitting, standing, or kneeling on the carriage. Exercises are often performed as a series, with each exercise flowing into the next.

Reformer Pilates can help improve balance, posture, muscle tone, strength, blood circulation, breathing, and cardiovascular fitness. It can also help with stress management and body awareness.
